Police are investigating 22 firms linked to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, that were used to transact multibillion-shilling tenders in various counties.
Mr Gachagua is under investigations by the Asset Recovery Agency (ARA), which wants to know the source of the Ksh12.5 billion that passed through his accounts.
The probe has revealed that two hairdressers and a former M-Pesa attendant-turned personal assistant were awarded multimillion-shilling tenders for the national government and Mathira CDF.
Sleuths want to know why their companies, Asoma Enterprises and Jenne Enterprises later transferred some of the money to entities owned by the MP.

Tender woes
For the two companies, agents have narrowed investigations on tenders valued at Ksh150 million.
Investigators are focusing on medical supplies to hospitals in five counties and deals with government firms, including parastatals
DCI and ARA sleuths have protected Ksh202 million which was in the MP’s account.
They have also recorded statements from 102 people, including Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, former Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Laikipia Senator John Kinyua.
