President Uhuru Kenyatta has dared his deputy William Ruto to quit government if unhappy or dissatisfied with the manner in which it is being run.

Speaking on Monday during an interview with editors from leading media houses in the country, President Kenyatta noted that it is unfair for the DP to criticise the same administration he is serving under.

The Head of State noted that the DP has been riding on the achievements of his government, while at the same time criticising his administration.

"If you are not happy, step aside and allow those who want to move on do so, then take your agenda to the people. That is what happens in democracy, you cannot ride on what we have done and talk a different language on the side," he said.

The President maintained that he is keen on fulfilling his agenda to the electorate, adding that the Big 4 and other key projects are on course.

President Kenyatta and DP Ruto had a cordial working relationship in their first term, however, things changed in the second term, with DP claiming that he has been sidelined.

On several occasions, the the DP has claimed that his roles were handed over to Cabinet Secretaries, with an aim of intimidating him.

In an Executive order issued months after his re-election, President Kenyatta appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi as the Chair of a Cabinet Committee on implementation of development programmes; this meant that CS Matiang'i would be a ' Super CS' and would oversee development projects in the country; a role that was previously executed by Ruto.

Following the Executive Order, the DP became a harsh critic of the government, blaming influential persons working with the President of derailing the Jubilee government agenda.
