Barua, a former member of parliament for Gichugu Constituency stated that he is determined to recapture his former seat on a UDA ticket.
The former legislator stated that his decision was informed by the will of the people of Gichugu who he said are keen to elect DP Ruto as Kenya's fifth Head of State.
"Their preferred presidential candidate is none other than William Samoei Arap Ruto,"Barua said.
He reiterated that he is keen to contest on a UDA Party ticket in the 2022 general elections, urging other leaders from around the country to seek UDA tickets.
Barua took shots at a meeting between his former party leader, Kiunjuri, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and NARC Party Leader Martha Karua, stating that it had been overtaken by events.
Barua's defection comes at the back of Kiunjuri and Karua telling DP Ruto that they will not dissolve their parties in order to join UDA.
