The High Court has ruled that four police officers and civilian accused of the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and a taxi driver have a case to answer.

While delivering her ruling on Monday morning, Justice Jessie Lessit placed all the five accused persons on their defence, noting that after reviewing the evidence presented, she was convinced that the accused have a case to answer.

“After considering the evidence, I have come to a conclusion that the prosecution has established a prima facie case against all of the accused, and therefore place all them on their defence,” she ruled.

The ruling comes after the prosecution closed its case on Thursday September 16th 2021.

Following the ruling, the defense is now expected to make its arguments, after which the court will make a final ruling on the matter.

Lawyer Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and a taxi driver Joseph Muiruri were murdered in 2016.

Over four years later, the case is still going on, even as the family and members of legal profession hoping that justice will be served and perpetrators of the murders brought to book.

Before today’s ruling, a total of 44witnesses had been presented by the prosecution to shade more light on events that led to the death of the three.
