The government has announced that the multi-billion Nairobi Expressway project is over 60% done.
According to the latest update Issued by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), key sections of the road are expected to be opened fully by latest October 15, 2021.
The first sections to be opened will be the JKIA-Mlolongo stretch and Westlands -James Gichuru stretch which are scheduled for September 30, 2021.
The Haile Selassie – UoN Roundabout will be the last to be opened on October 15, 2021.
KeNHA also noted that it has taken note of complaints from road users regarding traffic snarls ups and has put in place measures to reduce the same.

“Traffic management remain a critical component of project implementation to ensure relative ease of movement… to this end various interventions have been put in place including; widening angles at diversion points, continuous watering of construction sites to reduce rising dust and opening up lanes that were previously closed in Mlolongo and Syokimau…,” KeNHA’s statement read in part.
While much efforts are in place to ease traffic flow, KeNHA urged motorists to expect some traffic around General Motors area where a foot bridge is being installed and along Bunyala Road where hoisting of box girders s ongoing.
KeNHA has urged motorists to exercise calm and bear with it as it works towards timely delivery of the project.
