Several people are feared dead after a boat capsized at Pier Beach in Homa Bay.
Reports reaching Nairobileo.co.ke said that the boat was carrying 16 people when it capsized.
Six individuals have been rescued and rushed to hospital as a search for the others continues. They were taken to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital.
The victims were traveling to Ndhiru beach in Mbita Sub County when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Area Chief Joshua Ochogo confirmed that two people; a woman and a one and half year-old child lost their lives in the accident.

Thier bodies were retrieved by local divers who tried to rescue the passengers on the boat.
Eight other individuals are still missing even as the search mission continues.
