ODM leader Raila Odinga has said that his first meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta after his mock swearing-in lasted for 13 hours.
Speaking on Tuesday, when he was hosted by the Mt Kenya Foundation at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Mr. Odinga who presented his case as he seeks Mt Kenya support ahead of 2022 narrated what transpired, leading to the handshake with the President.
He went on to say that the second meeting lasted six hours, revealing that in the first meeting, they kept looking at each other and talking about the insults they hurled at one another.
“The first time we met to talk we talked for a long time, we talked for 13 hours from 2pm to 3am then we adjourned. Two days later, we met again for six hours. So, a total of 19 hours talking. When we first met we were just looking at each other,” said the former Prime Minister.

Mr. Odinga during the meeting also highlighted the need to have women and youth empowered stating that youth are the engine of the growth of an economy.
He added that women also need to be empowered to spur the much-needed growth as a country
“We cannot develop without empowering our women. A country where only one half of the population is working cannot expect to compete with a country where 100% of the population is working,” said Odinga.

Odinga has in recent days made an effort to popularise his political and economic agendas for the country in the Mt Kenya region.
During the forum, Odinga held a meeting with billionaire businessman and equity founder Peter Munga.
Also present were other members of the Mt Kenya Foundation leaders; Royal Media Services (RMS) owner S.K Macharia, Mastermind Tobacco owner Wilfred Murungi, former KRA boss Michael Waweru, coordinator Mutuma Nkanata, and Lapsset Board chairman Titus Ibui.
The event was also attended by various leaders from Mt Kenya, Governors, senators, church leaders, and other ODM leaders.
