Irungu Nyakera alleged that the people selling him do not mean well for him.

Former Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing & Urban Development Principal Secretary for Transport Irungu Nyakera has poked holes in the meeting held by the Mount Kenya Foundation to which ODM Leader Raila Odinga was the Chief Guest on September 28, 2021.

In a statement, the Murang'a County gubernatorial aspirant alleged that the people selling him do not mean well for him.

According to Nyakera, the consultative meeting did not entertain a single question or comment from attendees.

"It’s therefore evident that prior meetings had been held by the relevant “Mt Kenya functionaries” and attendees were only invited to endorse the minutes of those meetings," he stated.

He further added that the list of speakers missed out on youth and women noting that only one woman spoke.

"Raila said youth lack experience and that’s why they should remain patient as the elders speak to them," Nyakera added.

The former PS claimed that Raila’s message was dry and would not appeal to a majority of the youth in Kenya.

Nyakera stated that young people in the country are less interested in what happened to late former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Achieng Oneko and Mzee Jomo Kenyatta in 1948 and 1952 or even the fact that Kikuyu, Embu and Meru people had to carry Stamped Passes to move around the country.

"Youth want someone to speak to their current struggles of joblessness and hopelessness," Nyakera stated.

"My conclusion is that Baba has now been demystified and looks electable even in Mt Kenya.

"I also think Baba is not a bad man. But the people selling him don’t mean well for him. They are not in touch with Wanjiku. He should fire them and find new advisers," he noted.

During the forum which was held at the Safari Park Hotel, the Mt Kenya Foundation leaders urged the region and the country as a whole to support Raila's presidential bid.

The foundations' leaders include billionaire businessman and equity founder Peter Munga, Royal Media Services (RMS) owner S.K Macharia, Mastermind Tobacco owner Wilfred Murungi, former KRA boss Michael Waweru, coordinator Mutuma Nkanata, and Lapsset Board chairman Titus Ibui.
