Chaos erupted in Busia County on Saturday, October 23, 2021, after a section of youth pelted Deputy President William Ruto's motorcade with stones.
The youth, who were chanting anti-DP Ruto slogans, blocked the road and lit bonfires.
A section of UDA officials was caught in the crossfire including Siaya County UDA Party coordinator Pamela Ongoma whose vehicle was damaged.
The youth even attempted to disrupt DP Ruto rally in Busia town before they were repulsed by anti-riot police.
The DP condemned the violence in the area saying that they would remove leaders who are paying the youth to cause violence.

"We will remove these people who are asking the youth to carry stones. We want to tell those people who are using the young people of our nation, shame on you. The characters who are paying children of other citizens to cause violence, shame on you," DP Ruto remarked.
"We have no interest in violence. We want each one of us competing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta to sell their manifestos so that Kenyans can identify the best agenda that suits them. Those who lack an agenda should not use youths to block those with a manifesto to sell to the voters," DP Ruto affirmed.
