Police in Bomet have arrested a man who allegedly killed his neighbour on Saturday night, over a Ksh 400 debt.
The man identified as Evans Mutai is said to have stabbed 35-year-old Festus Keter on chest following an argument believed to be over the amount he owed him.
Mutai is a shopkeeper at Sibaiyan location in Bomet and after he stabbed the deceased, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives say he went about his business as usual and unperturbed.
"The incident followed an argument over a Sh400 debt, which the deceased owed the shopkeeper. After being stabbed on the right side of the chest, Keter was left for dead outside the shop," said DCI.
A concerned villager who stumbled on the body of the deceased, informed detectives based at Chesoen police station about the incident.
The officers rushed to the scene, which is about 10 kilometres away and conducted preliminary investigations into the murder, and after which the suspect was arrested.
"The murder weapon a blood stained knife was also recovered and kept as exhibit. Mutai, shall be arraigned in court on Monday to answer to murder charges," added DCI.
The body of the deceased was taken to Longisa hospital mortuary where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.
