Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is without a doubt, one of the wealthiest individuals in the country.
The flamboyant politician has on multiple occasions stated that he is a very rich man, and is never shy of flaunting his riches.
However, for a long time, members of the public questioned how the former Kiambu governor made his billions which saw him linked to allegations of drug trafficking.
In early 2020, during an interview with Anne Kiguta on K24's Punchline show, the politician gave Kenyans a brief insight into how he amassed his wealth.
Kabogo revealed that he started making huge sums of money in the 90s.

“What is your net worth? Kiguta posed. “My net worth is good...no figures,” Kabogo answered admitting that he is a billionaire but refrained from giving the exact figure.
“Why do you want me to advertise here what I own? I’m a wealthy man, that I will agree,” the ex-governor replied.
As the interview progressed, Kabogo revealed that he made most of his money in the 1990s while operating a car import business.
“In the 1990s, I used to import cars. Then you needed a license to import cars.
"I remember my last shipment of cars from Japan to here, was a whole vessel with 175 cars. So if you are making Ksh100,000 per car, how much is that? Big-time money," he shared.

He also revealed that he was a supplier for supermarkets and was among the founders of the now famous Eastleigh Market.
“I am the one who started the Eastleigh Market…Here I am, clean as snow,” Kabogo stated while dismissing allegations that he had been involved in drug trafficking.
The former governor denied that he engaged in the drug business and challenged those who thought otherwise to face him directly.
At the time, Kabogo had been spotted with a new helicopter which he later conceded set him back Ksh200 million.
On September 13, the flamboyant politician shared images of yet another of his lucrative ventures. He is behind the luxurious Iguta Paradise Homes located along Kiambu Road in Runda.
“It’s been a long journey but we’re getting there. God is great,” Kabogo captioned the images.
The investment is said to have 60 units of 4 bedroom villas, all of which have en-suite bedrooms, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, a home office, and a private gym.
According to multiple realtors and commercial property listings, the houses are being sold for between Ksh40 million to Ksh42 million.
This means that at 100 percent occupancy, Kabogo will have pocket Ksh2 billion through the sale.
President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the project a while back and was shown around by Kabogo.
The former Kiambu governor is known to own multiple properties including luxurious homes including one that can easily be mistaken for a 5-star hotel at Windsor, Kiambu County.
