Nelson Havi Speaks on Becoming a Judge in Kenya

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi has said he has no interest of becoming a judge in Kenya.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview on Hot 96 radio, Havi noted that he is not keen to become a judge because he does not believe he’ll make a good one.

He, however, noted that he is keen to serve the people of Kenya as a Member of Parliament for Westlands Constituency.

"I wouldn't want to be a Judge because I wouldn't make a good one. I don't have the Patience for it. But I have the greatest patience for the people of Westlands. They are the employer,” he said.

Explaining how he gained interest in politics, Havi noted that he was not keen to join the political space, but overtime, he discovered that it is easier to effect some changes if one is inside the system.

“Politics was never in my blood, but in professional growth you realize many deficiencies. these deficiencies can't be dealt with through court and memoranda to Parliament. We need people who will represent Kenyans, not self-serving puppies.

"My experience at the law society taught me insights of how the public should be treated. We need people in Parliament who can showcase their track record,” he said.

Havi is currently winding down his term as LSK Chair. Early next year, lawyers will take to the polls to elect the new chair of the society.

Meanwhile, Havi has been rallying Westlands constituency members to register as voters in readiness for the 2022 general election.

The vocal lawyer has been traversing the constituency rallying persons over the age of 18 to take part in the mass registration drive.
