Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 724 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 5,085 in the last 24hr.
Kenya now has a total number of 56,601 cases, since the first patient was diagnosed in March.
Speaking after a tour at Malindi Sub-county Hospital, Kagwe said 14 more patients have succumbed to the disease raising Kenya’s death toll to 1,027.

The youngest case is a 1-year-old baby, while the oldest is aged 84 years.

An additional 248 patients were discharged; 178 from the home-based care program, and 70 from hospitals around the country. Total recoveries now stand at 37,442.
Addressing reports that hospitals within the country were overwhelmed by the second wave of the pandemic, CS Kagwe termed the claims as inaccurate.
“The story circulating that we’re overwhelmed by the disease in terms of bed capacity is not true," the Health CS said.
"Only Nairobi Hospital, Aga Khan and perhaps MP Shah are overwhelmed because they have very little capacity,” Kagwe added.
