Police have arrested 27 people in Mumias West, Kakamega County for reportedly failing to adhere to Covid-19 measures put in place by the Ministry of Health.

The 27 were arrested after they were nabbed without face masks while in public.

The operation was led by Mumias West Deputy County Commissioner Charles Wambugu.

“We have cracked the whip and we have arrested about 27 residents of this town for not wearing masks. Some are pedestrians, others were in PSV vehicles, restaurants while others were going about their own businesses,” said the area police boss Paul Mengich as quoted by Citizen.

Mengich noted that such operations will continue until residents fully adhere to the set guidelines.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the country with the Ministry of Health calling for personal responsibility among Kenyans.
