The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) has confirmed an outbreak of Influenza A in the country.
In an update on Thursday, December 16, Kemri said four out of 36 samples tested positive for Influenza A.
This comes days after Kenyans complained of widespread flu on social media lamenting headaches, fever, tonsillitis, blocked nose, and chest.
The Government has advised Kenyans to adhere to the Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols to protect themselves.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe appealed to Kenyans not to go into panic-stricken mode.

"We must observe the civility of the flu, the hospitalization, and whether there are fatalities. So far, the statistics that we have should not cause any panic," Kagwe appealed.
As of the morning of Thursday, Kenyatta National Hospital partnered with Washington State University to start offering free flu vaccines to help combat the outbreak.
