The National Police Service (NPS) is in mourning following the death of a former senior police director Henry Barmao who was based at Vigilante House, Kenya Police Headquarters.
Until his death, Barmao served as the director of operations with the rank of a Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police (SAIG) at the Kenya Police Service.
He died on December 27 at a city hospital reportedly out of liver complications. He retired from the service in April 2020 after hitting the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
"He will be remembered for his dedication to duty and his no-nonsense approach to the fight against crime.

"His outstanding service as a Police Officer will remain a source of inspiration and motivation to us," a statement by NPS reads.
Barmao also worked at Kenya Police College in Kiganjo for many years as a drilling expert.
"We convey our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and relatives. May the Almighty God give them courage and fortitude to bear the loss," added in its statement.
Police spokesman Bruno Shioso, who spoke to journalist Cyrus Ombati, described him as a committed officer.
