In a statement dated Tuesday, January 18, KeNHA advised motorists to expect traffic disruptions starting January, Wednesday 9.

A section of Thika - Garissa will remain closed for over two months, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced.

In a statement dated Tuesday, January 18, KeNHA advised motorists to expect traffic disruptions starting January, Wednesday 9.

In the public notice, the government agency said the closure of the main road is as a result of the ongoing construction at Kathuluni river.

KeNHA further urged drivers to exercise caution when approaching the area under construction, follow the traffic management plan, and the directions given by the traffic marshals on site.

"KeNHA, in pursuant to the Traffic Act Cap. 403 Section 71, wishes to notify the general public that a section of Thika - Garissa (A3) Road will be closed due to the ongoing construction of a Box Culvert at (KM 56+000) Kathuluni River (Kwa Majini)," the statement read in part.

In other news, KeNHA has demolished at least 300 kiosks to give way for the expansion of the road in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County.

The kiosks were demolished Monday evening, January 17 by KeNHA as the traders are accused of encroaching the road reserve where they constructed their kiosks for business activities.

The traders expressed concern that their business structures were demolished without notice from the authority.
