Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has stated that he will not be involved, in any way, in Kenya's August 9 General Elections.
Speaking with New Vision TV, the Head of State noted that his government will not take sides in the polls or endorse any political candidate.
"Elections in Kenya or any other African country are a matter for the people of that country. We never take sides in the internal affairs of other countries. So, we have no side in Kenya elections," Museveni said.
The question might have been raised due to Museveni's close interactions with Deputy President William Ruto who is seeking to succeed his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
For instance in 2015, DP Ruto sparked a debate especially from the opposition after he was spotted in Museveni's active campaign trail.

Later in 2019, the DP's relationship with Museveni was questioned after the latter was hosted by Museveni at State House in Kampala where they held a three-hour meeting.
In July 2021, DP Ruto flew to Uganda to grace a stone-laying ceremony for a vaccine manufacturing plant in Uganda where he had been invited as a chief guest.
A month later, in August, the DP made headlines after being barred from flying to Uganda on grounds that he had not been cleared to leave the country.
DP Ruto's Communication Secretary David Mugonyi said the DP and his team had arrived at Wilson Airport ready for the trip but were advised to seek clearance from the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Joseph Kinyua.
"When he got to the airport, he was asked to seek clearance from Kinyua. We are surprised. This has never happened in the last nine years. Isorait... Tuwachie Mungu,” Ruto tweeted after retreating to his Karen home.
