COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has now claimed that Deputy President William Ruto wrote ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi's speech at the Bomas of Kenya on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
In a statement on Monday, January 24, Atwoli stated that it is not in Mudavadi's nature to take jabs at him or any other respected leaders in the country.
The COTU boss further accused the ANC leader of dishonesty and betrayal by allegedly allowing DP Ruto to manipulate him for selfish political interests.
“Anybody who has been listening to what William Ruto has been talking about me, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta can attest that it was him (Mudavadi) who crafted that speech," Atwoli stated.

“The speech was not Musalia’s. He (Musalia) has over the years portrayed himself as a humble person who doesn’t want to attack others. That was imported language into Musalia’s mouth,” he added.
Atwoli further noted that he supported Mudavadi's presidential bid but is now dismayed by his betrayal.
“In 2016, I spent over 200 million shillings trying to resuscitate Mudavadi back to political life by making him the spokesman of the Luhya community during the Bukhungu one meeting and at that time, in his eyes, I was a good boy and COTU (K) was a firebrand workers' union,” Atwoli said.
He accused Mudavadi and FORD-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula of auctioning their parties and supporters to the highest bidder.
“If these two parties are not political commercial kiosks, Mudavadi should come out and refute the rumour that Ruto gave him 300 million shillings to build his Karen home,” Atwoli claimed.
Yesterday, ANC and FORD-Kenya announced that they will work with DP Ruto, UDA, among other like-minded political parties to secure the presidency.
The DP announced that the UDA, ANC, and FORD-Kenya will hold joint rallies in the country starting this Wednesday, January 26.
