National Assembly speaker and presidential candidate Justin Muturi has explained why he missed the much hyped Amani National Congress (ANC) National Delegates Conference on Sunday, January 23 at the Bomas of Kenya.
In an update on his Twitter page, the speaker noted that he skipped the meeting due to suspicion that ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi had invited Deputy President William Ruto to the meeting.
Muturi addded that Mudavadi had not mentioned to other stakeholders that the DP would be part of the meeting resulting to the pre-election work pact between ANC and United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
"I did not attend ANC NDC as we were surprised that William Ruto would attend and Musalia Mudavadi did not have the courtesy to inform us, making us very suspicious of what they would declare and correctly we have seen the formation of another coalition with William Ruto, which we have never discussed at any time," Muturi tweeted.

Following the meeting, COTU boss Francis Atwoli accused the ANC leader of dishonesty and betrayal by allegedly allowing DP Ruto to manipulate him for selfish political interests, further claiming that the DP wrote Mudavadi's speech.
"Anybody who has been listening to what William Ruto has been talking about me, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta can attest that it was him (Mudavadi) who crafted that speech
"The speech was not Musalia’s. He (Musalia) has over the years portrayed himself as a humble person who doesn’t want to attack others. That was imported language into Musalia’s mouth," Atwoli said.
