Ababu Namwamba has resigned as the Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
Addressing the press on Thursday, February 10, Namwamba thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for the opportunity to serve Kenyans.
"I thank the president for the appointment but it is time to vacate the seat.
"We have accomplished so much and during this four-year period we have had an amazing time," he said.
Namwamba's resignation comes barely a day after he was appointed Head of International Relations in William Samoei Ruto's campaign team.

In a statement issued by Hussein Mohamed on Wednesday, February 9, DP Ruto stated that he had worked with Ababu for many years and valued his leadership skills.
"We have worked closely with Ababu over the past ten years on many fronts and I have come to value his leadership, experience, focus, and empathy. It is because of those qualities that I could not be more grateful to have him on our campaign team. With his considerable diplomatic talents, deep knowledge of the continent, strong networks on the global stage, and unwavering determination. I am confident in his role, leading international relations within my presidential campaign," DP Ruto stated.
