United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman Johnson Muthama has stated that Deputy President William Ruto would lose the August 9, 2022, General Elections if President Uhuru Kenyatta campaigned for him.
The former Machakos County senator further claimed that the second in command stands a higher chance of becoming Kenya's next president without Uhuru's support.
Speaking to Look Up TV on Tuesday night, February 22, 2022, said that President Kenyatta has a poor track record and thus if he campaigned for the DP, it would be hard to sell Ruto to voters.
Muthama called out the Head of State for taking sides in the upcoming elections instead of working to deliver Jubilee's manifesto.

“If the current president walks around with Deputy President William Ruto selling him, Kenyans won’t buy him because his record is bad. He is not a person who can recommend someone and Kenyans buy him or the policies of that person.
“How do you support a president who mobilises 3000 youth, takes them to State House and the message that comes from the Head of State is that of a choirmaster who is coaching those young people to sing yote yawezekana bila Ruto,” Muthama said in part.
The UDA chairman's sentiments come at a time when President Kenyatta is expected to meet leaders from the Mount Kenya region at the Nyeri State Lodge in what has been termed as Sagana III.
Reports indicate that the Head of State is expected to address his fallout with the deputy president as well as issue a direction to his supporters ahead of the August General Elections.
A section of leaders and analysts have since claimed that President Kenyatta will endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga's candidature at the meeting.
