President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has issued an update after meeting a delegation led by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at Nakasero State Lodge.

In an update via Twitter, Museveni said that they discussed the peace process in the Great lakes region.

"I hosted a Kenyan delegation led by the former Vice President H.E Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, at Nakasero State Lodge. We held talks on the peace process in the Great Lakes Region. I also made case for unity and patriotism as the basis for building strong armies," Museveni said.

The discussions also centred on the current situation in South Sudan and particularly the planned retreat between President Salva Kiir and his first Vice President Dr. Riak Mashar.

Kalonzo was accompanied by among others KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

For over a decade, Kenya and Uganda have had a dispute over Migingo Island in Lake Victoria.

The two countries created a joint committee to determine the border in 2016, relying on maps dating from the 1920s.

However, nothing has come of the committee. In the meantime, the island is co-managed by both countries but tensions occasionally flare up with some local fishermen calling it Africa’s “smallest war”.
