Raila, who was in the company of Royal Media Services (RMS) Chairman, S.K Macharia met the Mwanzo Mpya faction at a private meeting in Nairobi on Thursday, April 7 as he tried to quell rising concerns among the three Ukambani leaders.
Raila thereafter promised to expand the Azimio la Umoja camp to include more members of the coalition.
The coalition earlier had three decision-makers, Jubilee, ODM, and Wiper, which caused jitters among Mutua's team who felt left out of key decision-makers in the coalition.
And as one way of curbing the tension, it was agreed in the meeting that the leaders would not create other factions within the coalition.
In regard to Raila's running mate, it was agreed that all parties in the coalition would be consulted before a candidate is picked as requested by the governor Alfred Mutua-led Mwanzo Mpya faction.
Mutua had earlier on, confessed that Deputy President William Ruto had reached out to him after his hick-ups with Azimio.
He promised to call back the DP, saying his party is weighing options and is ready even to work with Kenya Kwanza Alliance if he feels the party's concerns are not well taken care of in Azimio.
It remains to be seen whether Mutua will stick to Raila's Azinmio camp or if he will join Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Movement, which already has a number of Ukambani leaders including the UDA party chairman Jonhson Mutham
