ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi has launched a scathing attack on President Uhuru Kenyatta after he claimed that his deputy William Ruto was not helping him in government.
Speaking at a Kenya Kwanza rally in Kisii on Wednesday, Mudavadi said that President Kenyatta had 10 years in government only to ask about the DP when his time was running out.
“Rais Uhuru ni wa ajabu kweli. Amekuwa na miaka kumi kisha wakati amebakisha karibu siku mia moja pekee ndio anaanza kulalamika ya kwamba hajatekeleza wajibu wake kwa sababu DP hakuwa anamsaidia,” Mudavadi said in Kisii.
The ANC boss further said that the President sought ODM leader Raila Odinga to help him with his agenda but instead made the cost of living high.
“Alipoleta mzee (Raila) alimsaidia kuongeza bei ya petrol, unga na kukopa madeni zaidi. Na huyo mzee naye amesema akipata atafuata nyayo zake (Uhuru). Akipata ataongeza bei ya petrol, unga na madeni. Si amesema atafuata nyayo zake?” Mudavadi posed.
The former vice president asked the president to stop complaining, saying that the DP was not there when things were going south.
He said that the President did not call for Cabinet meetings adding that he had more BBI and Azimio meetings than Cabinet meetings.
Mudavadi told the President that if he had failed to deliver, he should not pass the back. At the Labour Day celebrations on May 1, President Kenyatta said that his deputy was not there when he needed him.
“Na unajiita kiongozi na pia ati wewe ni namba ngapi katika nchi? Basi si ungewacha mimi nitafute mtu ambaye angenisaidia? Wewe unajua hii sio shida ya mtu, uko wapi wakati mimi nakuhitaji?” the President posed.
