Parents had decried the rising cost of school uniforms.

Education CS Prof. George Magoha has directed that no student be sent home from school due to lack of a school uniform.

Speaking on Wednesday as Form 1 admissions kicked off across the country, the CS said as long as students reported to school, there was no need to send them back.

Prof. Magoha added that the policy of President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration was that each child should be in school.

“There is too much talk about these uniforms that is not necessary and as long as the child has arrived in school do not send them back home. The policy of President Uhuru Kenyatta's government is that every child must be at school," Magoha stated.

The CS further said that students from poor backgrounds who are due to get scholarships should be admitted to school and given available uniforms.

He said that the money for the uniforms can be deducted once the students receive the money for scholarships.

There was an uproar earlier by parents who said that they were asked to pay expensively for school uniforms.

The parents decried the rising cost of the uniforms, which many could not afford.

Meanwhile, Magoha earlier warned school heads of increasing school fees.
