Police in Marsabit County have arrested eight suspects linked to a terror attack and recovered an assortment of weapons and ammunitions.
In a tweet by the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, the eight were arrested on Tuesday evening during a security operation by a multi-agency team.
The police said that during the operation, three AK-47 rifles, one G-3 rifle and a General Purpose Machine Gun were recovered.
Further recovered were several rounds of ammunition and containers of gun oil.
“The operation also seized an assortment of 579 rounds of ammunitions, 66 spent cartridges and containers of gun oil. The suspects will be arraigned this morning to face various charges,” NPS tweeted.

The security operation in the county, which was dubbed ‘Rudisha Amani Marsabit’, was launched following a streak of indiscriminate attacks by bandits on members of the public in the region.
The police further maintained that the curfew which is being imposed in the area would remain in place.
They further commended the members of the public for their support as the service strives to restore normalcy in the region.
The region has been experiencing banditry attacks in the past few weeks, with innocent locals losing their lives and others heavily wounded.
