According to PS Kibicho, 30,000 people will be allowed to attend the event. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta's last Madaraka Day celebrations will be held at the Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi County. 

Addressing the press on Thursday, May 12, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho announced that the celebrations would be held in Nairobi County since it would be the last national celebrations presided by Kenyatta. 

"This year's Madaraka Day will be the last national holiday under H.E. President Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration. The celebrations will be held in Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi in appreciation of the significance of this particular event," Kibicho stated.

The Interiors PS said that they were 90% ready after the inspection of Uhuru gardens. 

According to Kibicho, 30,000 people will be allowed to attend the event. 

"At least 30,000 Kenyans will be allowed into the grounds in this year's Madaraka Day celebrations. This is an increase from the 10,000 who were allowed into the grounds during last year's Jamhuri Day celebrations due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.  

The Madaraka Day celebrations are set for June 1, 2022.
