It has now emerged that Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua will vie for the Mwala parliamentary seat.
An electoral commission filing seen by Nairobileo.co.ke confirmed that Governor Mutua was among those listed to vie for the Mwala parliamentary seat.
Despite the listing, Mutua claimed that he would not be seeking any elective post in the upcoming general election.
The Governor did also not disclose who forwarded his name to IEBC.
"For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to clarify that at this particular time, I am not running for any elective position in the forthcoming elections. I am concentrating on campaigning for the Kenya Kwanza coalition so that Kenya can get a new system where dreams can come true," Mutua stated.
This comes hours after it emerged that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula would defend his seat in the August polls.
This is despite being promised the Senate Speaker post if Kenya Kwanza wins the August polls.
According to the Kenya Kwanza agreement, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi will land a lucrative position of the Prime Cabinet Secretary if Ruto wins the August 9 polls.

Musalia and Mudavadi were promised a 30% share of Ruto's government, that is appointments in all ministries and government parastatals. The two Western Kenya leaders are in return, required to get Ruto 70% of the votes from the five counties of Western Kenya.
On the other hand, Mutua will negotiate a Cabinet Secretary slot in Ruto's government but would have to deliver 35% of the 1.7 million voters from the three Ukambani counties, Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui.
