According to Ruto’s presidential campaign director-general Josphat Nanok, immediately after being cleared this morning to vie for president, Ruto no longer use government vehicles in his campaigns. Nanok said the DP will only enjoy the presidential security which will be provided to him as a presidential candidate.
Ruto's date with the IEBC comes amid a massive fallout by a number of presidential aspirants who have failed to meet the IEBC's requirements.
Only two aspirants out of the nine who have appeared before the IEBC have been since been cleared to vie. The two include Walter Mongare of the Umoja Summit Party and Professor George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party.
Wiper Party Leader Kalono Musyoka was also expected to appear before the commission today to present his papers. However, his announcement that he will support Raila Odinga will automatically lock him out of the race.
David Waihiga of the Agano party is also expected to present his documents before the commission later in the day. On Sunday, Azimio la Umoja coalition candidate Raila Odinga, Dr Ekuru Aukot of Thirdway Alliance and Independent candidate George Munyottah are expected to present their documents.
Jimi Wanjigi of the Safina party is the last candidate expected to meet the IEBC on Monday in a list of initial 18 aspirants that had been scheduled.
