Five people were killed on Monday after a train hit a lorry at Kihunguro area in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Police confirmed the incident stating that the twelve were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to police, the lorry was transporting casual laborers from a construction site when the accident happened.
Police also said that the driver of the lorry might have miscalculated the distances and opted not to give way to the train.
Witnesses at the scene were trying to help people who they claimed were trapped beneath the train after the accident as police tried to control the crowd.
