Murang’a gubernatorial aspirant Irungu Kang’ata was forced to replace his running mate Dr. Winnie Mwangi to be cleared by the IEBC.
The electoral body said that Kanga'ta's deputy Dr. Winnie did not resign from the Government by February 9 as stipulated.
In a Facebook post, the Murang'a senator announced 29-year-old Stephen Mburu Munania as his new running mate ahead of the August polls.
"UDA Muranga DG designate now is Stephen Mburu Munania. He is a 29 year old young person, born in Karega village Mbugiti, Kariara Gatanga Constituency- the most populated ward in Muranga. He hods a degree in International Diplomacy from a public university.
"He has worked as an Assistant County Commissioner Cadet in Kenol hence experienced in public administration. He left employment to aspire to lead Kariara during UDA nominations. He performed very well, leading in several polling centers and emerged amongst the best," part of the statement read.

The Murang'a senator said that Dr. Winnie would remain part of the Murang'a chapter adding that she would head UDA campaigns in Murang'a.
"Dr Winnie remains part and parcel of the UDA Muranga chapter. She will continue to offer her services as an expert in land matters. She will head our UDA campaigns. We forgive those that breached her privacy. We hope to transit with her into county government leadership come August 2022," Kanga'ata said.
Kang'ata was cleared by IEBC on Tuesday after IEBC rejected his application on Monday due to Dr. Winnie's failure to resign on time.
