Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced an oncoming traffic disruption on a section of Mombasa Road that forms part of the Northern Corridor connecting the port of Mombasa to Malaba.
The agency said the section in question, between Simba Colt and Ole Sereni, will be closed for seven days, between July 5 and July, 12 to pave the way for the maintenance works.
"KeNHA would like to notify the public of the temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on A8 Road between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni) from Saturday, July 5, 2025, to Saturday, July 12, 2025, to facilitate essential highway maintenance works along this section," read KeNHA's statement on Saturday, June 28.
The closure will affect the Nairobibound traffic on the route.

KeNHA said heavy trucks would be directed to a faraway exit in Kyang'ombe, with small vehicles being offered an alternative route along the section that will be under maintenance.
"During this period of road closure, heavy vehicles of gross weight greater than 3.5 tonnes and other motorists heading to the Southern Bypass will be diverted to exit the main highway at Kyang'ombe Slip Road through Old Mombasa Road, while other vehicles will use a single lane that will be provided along the affected section," KeNHA said.
The agency called on the motorists to comply with the rules on the ground and cooperate with the traffic marshals on site for seamless traffic flow.
"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," KeNHA's statement added.
At the same time, KeNHA announced traffic disruptions on the Gitaru interchange connecting the Southern and Western bypasses.
The section will be closed for 44 days, between June 28 and August 11, to allow for the reconstruction of the South-Western Interchange Ramp, Loops, and Slip Roads.
The alternative routes during the closure will be the Kikuyu Link Road, Southeastern Loop and the Muguku interchange in Kikuyu.
