Deputy President William Ruto has reportedly summoned 150 Members of Parliament allied to his Hustler movement for a consultative meeting on Wednesday in Nairobi.
Reports indicate that the meeting is aimed at charting the way forward regarding the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum after it emerged that different members have varying standpoints.
A section of leaders want Kenyans to vote for BBI using the clause by clause approach while others want it rejected in its entirety.
According to Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, the BBI document has good sections that should not be thrown out.

“There are good things in the bill which we do not want to see thrown away. We can reason together on how to solve this matter. Indeed, Kenyans are not happy with additional MPs but this is a problem that will affect both Jubilee and ODM,” Washiali said during an interview with The Star.
Meanwhile, DP Ruto over the weekend noted that he is happy that some of his concerns have been amended, adding that focus now shifts to ensuring all stakeholders have a consensus on the document.
"I've a constitutional duty to assist my boss, the president. We've made improvements to BBI post Bomas. Now working on consensus for Kenyans to have real choices to decide/vote while avoiding yes/no, all/nothing division. We avoided lose-lose we can overcome win-lose to achieve win-win,” he said.
