The Roots Party has appointed Lamu-based fisherman Omar Lali as the party’s National Coordinator of the Beach Boys Association.
In a statement by the party's presidential running mate Justina Wangui on Thursday, June 23, the party stated that beach boys spur the tourism economy by offering tours along the coastline.
“I have today appointed Omar Lali as Roots Party Coordinator of Beach Boys Association country wide. Beach boys spur up the tourism economy as they are guides offering lengthy tours of the coastline and the marine parks.
“Others sell African souvenirs such as khangas, Maasai sandals and beadwork. Some of these traders display their wares along the sandy stretch,” read the statement.

The party further maintained that Lali would bring the beach boys' vote who it said had been ignored in Kenya’s agenda of development.
“Omar brings the beach boys vote who are many at times ignored in Kenya's development agenda. Roots Party of Kenya looks forward to this strategic partnership,” the statement further read.
Lali shot into the limelight after he was linked to the death of Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai in May 2020 before he was vindicated. He was Tecra’s boyfriend.
His appointment comes after the Roots Party presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoyah appointed Wilson Muirani Gathoni alias as Jaymo Ule Msee as his spokesperson and head of media.
