The US Senate has approved Billionaire Meg Whitman to be the new ambassador to Kenya.
Whitman,who was the Republican nominee for California governor in 2010, was nominated by President Joe Biden to be U.S. ambassador to Kenya in December 2021.
She was nominated to replace Kyle McCarter who resigned after Donald Trump lost in the elections.
"I am sad to announce that this privilege is coming to an end on January 20 when I will resign my post. Nevertheless, Kenya will continue to play a large role in my life," stated McCarter while announcing his resignation in January 2021.

Whitman previously served as CEO of eBay CEO from 1998 to 2008 where she oversaw the rise of the company.
She also served as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard and Quibi and is a board member of Procter & Gamble and General Motors.
In 2010, she joined politics and secured the Republican nomination in the California governor’s race but lost to Democratic nominee Jerry Brown 53.8-40.9%.
According to Forbes Magazine, Whitman is worth $5 billion, making her the 151st wealthiest person in US as of September 2021.
Her approval comes barely a month as Kenya heads to the August general election.
