A 35-year-old man from Kamulembe village in Khamisi, Vihiga county, has killed her mother following a domestic feud.
The 67-year-old Jane Khasoa had a disagreement with her father when the son intervened and hacked her with a machete.
Khasoa's disappearance prompted neighbors to launch a search only to end up finding her in a ditch near her homestead.
Area chief Wilforce Bahali confirmed the incident.
"Chanzo cha mauti ilitokana na ugomvi kati ya baba yake an mama yake. Baba yake alikua ameenda kibarua ya siku. Baada ya kumaliza kazi malipo ilikua kidogo na vile alirudi kwa nyumba akaulizwa na mama chakula na hakukua na cha kupeana," the chief said.

"Hapo ndo mzozo ulianzia. Mzee alitoka akaenda akaelezea kijana yake na hapo ndo vita ilitokea kati ya kijana na mama."
He said the suspect and the father have been detained at Serem police station.
The deceased body was removed from the ditch and is preserved from the Vihiga referral.
