The US forces have gunned down two al-Shabaab militias who were part of a team that attacked their partner forces in a remote location near Libikus, Somalia.

The attack happed on Sunday, July 17.

The two died after the US Africa Command in coordination with the federal government of  Somalia launched an airstrike.

No civilian was injured during the attack.

"The command's initial assessment is that two al-Shabaab terrorists were killed in action and that no civilians were injured or killed given the remote nature of where the engagement occurred," a press statement by US Africa Command read in part.

"The Federal government of Somalia and US Africa command take great measures to prevent civilian casualties. These efforts contrast with the indiscriminate attacks that al-Shabaab regularly conducts against the Civilian Population."

The US forces are part of many security teams deployed in Somalia to neutralize the al-Shabaab insurgency.

Kenya Defence Forces are also part of the team that has been working around the clock to pacify our borders and also help Somalia to have peace.
