Photos of the ongoing renovations at Uhuru and Central parks to give them a modern look have emerged online.

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) sought to install modern facilities in the park.

According to NMS, the 12.9-hectare park will boast of manicured lawns, maintained trees, enhanced walkways, and green spaces. The lilies pond at the park will also be turned into an aquarium.

Based on the photos seen by Nairobileo.co.ke, the quest to give the parks a world-class look is taking shape.

In September 2021, Nairobi MCAs approved a motion to rehabilitate the two iconic public parks decrying that they were in a deplorable state.

The motion by Majority Leader Abdi Guyo sought to have the parks urgently closed to allow for their rehabilitation to restore them to their former glory.

"The disrepair of facilities and amenities at the two parks is worrying," Guyo stated.
