Police on Tuesday, August 9, arrested Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate for Ikolomani constituency Hamisi Butichi with weapons. 

Mr. Butichi was nabbed with machetes at one of the polling stations. 

According to the police, Mr. Butichi, was arrested with other materials which are not supposed to be at the polling station.

Voting kicked off in most parts of the country at 6:00 am. Deputy President William Ruto, his deputy nominee Martha Karua and Azimio deputy nominee Martha Karua have already voted.

There have been reported delays in some constituencies with some KIETS kits also said to have failed in some polling stations.
