IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati is yet to announce the presidential results.

IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera has stated that the commission will not take ownership of the presidential result that is yet to be announced.

In a press briefing on Monday alongside four IEBC commissioners, Cherera said that the move was due to the opaqueness of the electoral process in the final stage.

"We will not take ownership of the results that will be announced because of the opaque nature of how this phase has been handled," Cherera stated.

The IEBC vice chairperson, who spoke alongside commissioners Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyangaya, and Irene Masit, said that they would give details of the opaque nature soon.

Cherera, however, said that IEBC conducted the election in the most effective adding that the commission had its standards.

“We have conducted the 2022 General Election in the most effective and efficient manner. We have ensured that we have improved the standards and consistently communicated what is happening," Cherera stated.

Cherera spoke even as IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati made way to the Bomas of Kenya ahead of the presidential results declaration.

In a previous press conference, Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga's chief agent said the presidential results set to be released by the IEBC have been manipulated.

Saitabao Ole Kanchory said the process of verifying the results was not transparent as pledged by the IEBC boss Chebukati.

"The results that are yet to be released we don't know about them. Whether they favor us or not, those results have been tampered with," he stated.
