President-elect William Ruto on Thursday held a meeting with a delegation from the United States led by Delaware Senator Chris Andrew Coons.
In a statement after the meeting that was held at his Karen residence, Ruto said that talks in the meeting entailed on the just concluded general elections in the country.
The President-elect further stated that the meeting touched on areas of cooperation between Kenya and the United States, committing to strengthen the relationship.
The US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman also attended the meeting.
“Held talks with Congressional Delegation from the United States led by Delaware Senator Chris Andrew Coons in the company of the US Ambassador to Kenya at the Karen Office, Nairobi County,” Ruto said.

“The talks touched on the just concluded elections in the country and areas of cooperation between Kenya and United States. We commit to deepen relations and further partnership for the mutual benefit of the citizens of the two countries,” he added.
Following the arrival of Coons, the US ambassador to Kenya said that the senator was to hold talks with with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
“The delegation is also scheduled to meet with President Kenyatta, William Ruto and Raila Odinga to discuss shared goals- health, security, and economic prosperity," Whitman said.
Senator Coons is now yet to meet President Kenyatta and Raila, who rejected the presidential results announced by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
