Policemen have raided former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala's home.

Police on Thursday, September 1, raided former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala’s residence in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County.

In a video seen by Nairobi Leo, the officers gained access to Malala’s home through the fence as the main gate was locked.

Several police officers also stood outside the former senator’s compound as a few gained access into the compound.

Taking it to his official Facebook page, Malala alleged that the police were harassing him at his residence with an unexplained arrest.

He shared a live video of the incident on the page with the caption:

“Milimani Residence, Lurambi Constituency. Unwarranted Police harassment, intimidation, and unexplained arrest.”

The incident attracted a number of locals who flocked outside the former senator’s compound with a number of vehicles seen packed there.

The police were yet to get hold of Malala, with the reason for the incident not yet known.

This comes after Malala lost in his bid to become Kakamega’s governor.

The ANC candidate was floored by ODM’s Fernandes Barasa who bagged 192,929 votes with Malala garnering 159,508 votes.

Malala, however, conceded defeat as he congratulated Barasa and his team for their win.

"I congratulate governor-elect, Hon. FCPA. Fernandes Barasa and his team for their win. It is deserved and indisputable. I am ready to offer any part of my manifesto that they may find suitable in their new government for the progress of Kakamega. I also laud IEBC for conducting free, fair, credible and verifiable elections,” he stated.
