Association of African Election Authorities has lauded IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati for his conduct in managing Kenya's August 9, elections. 

In a letter to the IEBC boss, the President of the Executive Committee of the Association Jean Mensa lauded the IEBC boss for what he termed a job well done

"A hearty congratulations to our dear brother, Mr. Wafula Wanyonyi Chebukati, Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya and his team," the Statement stated.

"The Supreme Court validation of the results declaration by the IEBC is a testament of your hard work and efforts."

The association said the IEBC had performed well in ensuring the elections are free and fair and that the will of the people is upheld.

"We, the Executive Committee of the Association of African Election Authorities (AAEA) applaud your tireless efforts in ensuring the credibility of the 2022 Presidential Election in Kenya," the statement added.

"We pray for continued peace and calm in Kenya and coming days and weeks." 

In a rejoinder to the letter, Chebukati thanked the group for standing with him at the hour of need.

He said the group was with him throughout the election process and stood with him when he needed them most.

"As President of the General Assembly of the Association of the African Election Authorities (AAEA),I wish to thank AAEA for sending a solidarity mission representing Election Management Bodies (EMBs) from member states who provided me with peer support during the General Election," he said.

The Association of African Election Authorities is a platform that brings together heads of EMBs to dialogue, share experiences and lessons, and set standards in election management.
