Exiled Kenyan lawyer Miguna Miguna is yet to have the red alerts barring his return to Kenya lifted.
On Tuesday, September 13, the Canada-based lawyer said that President William Ruto had assured him he would have his travel documents renewed, the travel barriers lifted before he boards a flight back home.
That would happen on Wednesday, September 14.
"I'm happy to announce that President William Ruto has assured me that the red alerts will be lifted on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. Thereafter, I will have my Kenyan Passport renewed and I'll announce the date of my return to my motherland. Bravo!" said Miguna.
However, three days into his tweet, his return to Kenya remains uncertain.

On Friday, the fiery lawyer seemed to have been frustrated owing to the happenings regarding his travel documents.
Going by the tweet he sent, Miguna appeared to be protesting some directives, among them the authentication of his travel documents before he is allowed back in the country.
"I am a Kenyan-born citizen. I'm more Kenyan than despot Uhuru Kenyatta and conman Raila Odinga. Both spent their youth abroad. I attended nursery to university in Kenya. I don't need any approval of documents to return home. All I want are red alerts lifted Period!" he said.
Reading in between the lines, Kenyans concluded that Miguna was being frustrated by authorities in his quest to return home.
Below are a few reactions;
"Red alert were to be removed on Wednesday as per your tweet, what happened kiongozi? said Kibor Kot.
"I don't understand why it is taking him this long. Part of the reasons I voted for him was he promised to allow you back into the country," Harris Wilys.
"The usefulness of toilet paper ends once you stretch your hands on the roll and stop squatting! Nobody in his right mind all over the world recycles toilet paper! Miguna has been used," Wuod Koru.
"Heheh utalia zaidi, I don't think anyone would want you for a friend. Raila helped you, you went ahead and wrote "peeling back the mask" which defamed Raila Odinga. William Ruto cannot take chances with you," TG Marigi.
Miguna was unceremoniously deported from the country in 2018.
The state argued he had committed an offense akin to treason after administering an illegal oath to then NASA leader Raila Odinga.
His efforts to return to the country have proved futile.
In 2020, the government under former president Uhuru Kenyatta sanctioned red alerts that have since to date barred his return to Kenya.
