The nominee for the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi says he is no longer the party leader of Amani National Congress (ANC).
Mudavadi made the revelation on Monday, October 17, while appearing before the Committee on Appointments vetting CS nominees at the National Assembly.
The former ANC leader was responding to Speaker Moses Wetang’ula about whether he has held any position in a political party.
Mudavadi responded, “Yes, the most recent one was the party leader of the ANC." When asked if he still holds the position, Mudavadi said, “No, Mr. Chairman.”

He never divulged more details during the vetting or disclose who was now the new party leader of ANC.
Mudavadi also assured the vetting committee that there would be no clash of roles between him and deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
"I'm sure that if we look carefully, there's no conflict whatsoever with the functions of the Prime Cabinet Secretary's office and the Deputy President's office," he said.
Speaker Moses Wetang’ula ruled that the Prime CS position is legally sound and constitutionally grounded after a section of Azimio MPs questioned its constitutionality.
"The committee has already received a total of 22 memorandums to various CS nominees which shall be disclosed to nominees during their vetting. According to our constitution, the president is allowed to have not less than 14 or more than 22 cabinet slots, and I hereby confirm that the Prime Cabinet Secretary is within the law," Wetang'ula stated.
