It was an emotional moment for Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili when he was addressing the Mashujaa Celebrations in Kisumu County on Thursday.
The deputy Governor was acknowledging the contribution made by ODM leader Raila Odinga when tears started flowing down his cheeks.
"We celebrate another decorated shujaa - one of the best presidents we will never have - the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. You all know his painful story in the struggle and fight for democracy in this country," he stated amid tears.
The Deputy Governor further asked residents and the people of Luo Nyanza to work hard to change the country's fortune and that of Kenya at large.

He said the region should strive to work hard and better the lives of each for the sake of community growth.
"Nonetheless, it is all over. I want to let the people of Luo Nyanza know that your neighbour's struggles must give you sleepless nights. If there is something you can do to improve the lives of others, please do," the deputy governor said
Owili led the celebrations in Kisumu since the county boss Anyang Nyongo is out of the country.
Nyong'o and his Nakuru County counterpart Susan Kihika were dispatched to Netherlands by the Council of Governors to scout for donors.
