The United Democratic Alliance party has invited applications from aspirants seeking its ticket to vie for a member of parliament seats in Kandara, Garissa Township and Elgeyo Marakwet county.

In a notice dated November 2, the party said qualified registered party members have until November 11 to file their applications.

"United Democratic Alliance (UDA) invites all interested and qualified registered party members intending to participate in the forthcoming by-elections to submit their applications for party primaries on or before November 11, 2022," the party's National Elections Board Chair Anthony Mwaura said adding that all applications should be done via the party website.

The party also welcomed applications for Sheila ward in Lamu county.

Those seeking Member of the National Assembly and senate seat will pay Sh250,000 for men, Sh125,000 for females, Sh125,000 for youths and Sh125,000 for people living with a disability.

For the county assembly seat, men will pay Sh50,000, females Sh25,000, youth Sh25,000 and people living with disabilities Sh25,000.

The Kandara, Garissa Township and Elgeyo Marakwet seats fell vacant after the respective office holders resigned to take Cabinet roles handed to them by President William Ruto.

Kipchumba Murkomen who was elected Elgeyo Marakwet senator resigned to be CS for transport and road infrastructure.

Aden Duale who was elected Garissa Township MP resigned to take up the defence cs role.
