The toll road will be closed from 9:30pm, Saturday, September 7, until further notice.

The Moja Expressway Company, which operates the 27-kilometre Nairobi Expressway, has announced a temporary closure of the elevated toll road.

In a statement on Saturday, September 7, the companies notified motorists that the expressway would not be operational from 9:30 pm until further notice.

The closure, Moja Expressway said, was necessitated by the third edition of the Nairobi City Marathon set to take place on Sunday, September 8.

"Please note that the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed from Saturday, 7th September 2024 at 9:30 pm to pave way for the 3rd edition of the Nairobi City Marathon.

"The resumption of normal operations will be communicated in due course," read the statement.
