This “quote” rings true as I walk out of Nation Media Group where I have spent half of my career,…
"As I move forward, I carry with me the valuable lessons and experiences gained during my time at NMG. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and eager to continue contributing to the evolving media landscape."
On the other hand, he highlighted some of his successes at the NMG, especially in his involvement with the digital platforms of the company.
"In my role as Managing Editor, I focused on enhancing audience engagement and driving digital growth. Working alongside an incredibly talented team, we implemented paywalls across Nation Africa, Business Daily, and The East African," Mathenge added.
"This initiative, supported by robust analytics dashboards, has empowered the newsroom to prioritize quality journalism and create sustainable revenue streams. I am proud of the team's achievements in growing subscriptions."
Mathege first joined NMG in 2007 and worked as a news journalist until 2012.
He later joined Radio Africa Group where he rose over the ranks to become Group Digital Editor for its outlets such as The Star Newspaper, Mpasho, Classic 105 and Kiss 100.
In December 2021, he rejoined NTV as the Managing Editor. In additional changes effected in the company in April 2023, he was named as the Managing Editor in charge of Audience and Engagement.
